1. Current Grant Amounts in November 2025

Following the October 2025 increase of R10 per category, the current grant values are:

  • Old Age Grant (60–74 years): R2,320
  • Old Age Grant (75+ years): R2,340
  • War Veterans Grant: R2,340

  • Care Dependency Grant: R2,320

These adjustments align with the Finance Minister’s 2025/26 Budget Speech announcement, which included a phased R100 increase to permanent grants—R90 applied from April and the remaining R10 added in October.

2. SRD Grant Extended Until March 2026

The SRD grant, intended for unemployed adults aged 18–59 with no other income or grants, has been extended until March 2026.

A total of R33.6 billion has been allocated for the program in the 2025/26 fiscal year.

Payment options include:

  • Direct bank deposit
  • CashSend
  • Retailer payout points, such as Shoprite, Pick n Pay, Boxer, and Checkers

Eligible recipients should monitor their SASSA profiles for payment confirmation messages.

3. Beneficiary Biometric Enrollment (BBE) Update

SASSA’s Beneficiary Biometric Enrollment (BBE) system, introduced in September 2025, continues to be implemented across the country. This system uses facial and fingerprint recognition to verify identities during grant collection.

According to updates presented to the Portfolio Committee on Social Development, the BBE aims to:

  • Prevent fraudulent grant applications
  • Ensure accurate identity verification
  • Improve efficiency in the grant system

The BBE currently focuses on beneficiaries with temporary identity numbers or without formal IDs, though it may be expanded to all beneficiaries over time. SASSA has assured that no eligible individuals will be excluded due to biometric delays, and mobile units are deployed in rural areas to support enrollment.
