Why prices have gone up

According to the DMRE, the increase is largely attributed to a weaker rand and rising international petroleum product prices.

Crude oil prices have shown fluctuations in recent weeks, affecting the Basic Fuel Price (BFP). Additionally, the Slate Levy remains unchanged at 0 cents per litre.

These revised petrol prices will influence monthly transport budgets for both private and commercial vehicle owners.

Higher refuelling costs, especially for long-distance drivers and logistics companies, may impact other expenses, including delivery surcharges and transport fees.

The department continues to monitor global oil trends and exchange rate shifts for future adjustments.
