Controversial Limpopo rapper Shebeshxt, real name Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, has once again made headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Watch: Shebeshxt filmed trying to stab a fan
A viral video circulating on social media shows the musician appearing to attempt to stab a man with a large knife during an argument at an unidentified entertainment venue.
In the clip, Shebeshxt is seen unzipping his Nike jacket before pulling out a knife-like object and lunging at the person in front of him. The sound in the video is muffled, making it difficult to hear the exchange, but his gestures show clear aggression.
This shocking incident, caught on camera, has sparked fresh concerns over how the artist continues to receive bookings despite repeated incidents of alleged violence.
Shebeshxt’s history of violence
This incident adds to a long list of troubling episodes linked to Shebeshxt. The rapper is already facing several criminal charges, including attempted murder and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH).
In 2022, Shebeshxt allegedly stabbed a man in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo. That case is still making its way through the courts. He has also been accused of stabbing other victims in 2023 — one in the back, another multiple times on the arm, neck, and near the ribs.
In April 2023, he allegedly used a firearm twice in two separate incidents on the same day in Ga-Mamaola village. He reportedly fired shots in the air after failing to locate individuals he was looking for at two homes.
Limpopo NPA spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi confirmed in a July 2024 update that the rapper is facing multiple assault and firearm-related charges. His bail was revoked at the time, and he was arrested again.
Adding to his controversial public image, Shebeshxt was also involved in two serious car accidents within six months. The second, in June 2024, resulted in the tragic death of his nine-year-old daughter.
Despite his popularity in Limpopo’s music scene, Shebeshxt’s frequent brushes with the law and alleged violent outbursts have made him one of the country’s most controversial music figures.
As of now, no police statement has been released confirming whether a criminal case has been opened regarding the new video.
