The loadshedding schedule will kick off at Stages 3 and 4 on Monday, 13 February 2023. Here’s what we know about what you can expect this week.
UPDATE: Eskom confirmed in a statement that Stage 3 and 4 loadshedding will be implemented interchangeably between morning and evening peak periods until further notice.
Here is a look at the latest update on Eskom’s breakdown report as of Sunday, 12 February 2023:
- 16 920MW (unplanned) –up 1 093MW from Friday, 10 February 2023
- 5 759MW (planned maintenance) – up 750MW from Friday, 10 February 2023
Loadshedding schedule for week of Monday, 13 February 2023, confirmed
Following a weekend of rotational outages sustained at Stages 4 and 5, the embattled power utility confirmed that Stage 3 loadshedding will be in effect between 00:00 and 16:00.
Therefter, loadshedding will be hiked to Stage 4 until the following day.
In a statement, Eskom confirmed that on Friday, 10 February 2023, “two generating units at Arnot, a unit each at Duvha, Kriel and Medupi power stations were taken offline for repairs.”
Moreover, the national electricity supplier further revealed that despite two generating units returning to service on Friday, at least two others at Kendal and Lethabo were delayed.
At the time of reporting, breakdowns amounted to:
- 15 827MW (unplanned) – up 612MW from Monday, 6 February 2023
- 5 009MW (planned maintenance) – down 109MW from Monday, 6 February 2023
It remains unclear, at this juncture, what the schedule will look like from Tuesday, 14 February 2023.
