Despite the dramatic visuals, they stressed that no one was injured, and the blaze appeared to have started by accident.
Within hours, several hundred firefighters were on site to control the situation.
The festival’s popular campsite, DreamVille, was set to open the next morning as planned, and scheduled activities under the Global Journey programme in Brussels and Antwerp were not affected.
Attendees were reassured that these parts of the event would proceed as normal, with campers welcomed from 10:00 CEST (12:00 SAST) on Thursday, 17 July 2025.
“We spent the night working on possible solutions for the Mainstage area. No other parts of the festival venue, stages or areas were impacted,” Tomorrowland officials said.
They were quick to acknowledge the emotional toll, describing the main stage as a “living, breathing world” born from passion, creativity and countless hours of work.
Over the night, organisers remained busy behind the scenes.
By 10:22 CEST (12:22 SAST) the following morning, they issued a heartfelt message to festival-goers:
“The Orbyz Mainstage… is no more. It carried part of our soul… We hold on to the magic Orbyz gave us.”
They also reaffirmed their commitment to delivering the full festival experience:
- DreamVille opened as planned, with campers settling in.
- Global Journey events in Brussels and Antwerp continued as scheduled.
- No other festival areas were affected by the fire.
They promised full details for Friday, Saturday and Sunday would be released in the hours ahead as they finalised contingency plans.
Despite the loss of the main stage, organisers stressed that festival activities across other stages would go on.
DJ line-ups including David Guetta, Lost Frequencies, Armin van Buuren, and Charlotte de Witte are still set to perform from Friday onward.
About two-thirds of their sets will be shifted to the Freedom Stage, with others scheduled at remaining venues.
Attendees are urged to be patient and stay tuned for official updates.
Tomorrowland pledged to provide detailed announcements about stage schedules and logistics as soon as possible:
“All detailed info about the festival weekend (Friday – Saturday – Sunday) will follow in the upcoming hours.”
