FIU linebacker, Luke Knox, died on Wednesday, 17 August 2022, at the age of 22, as confirmed in a statement released on Thursday.

As reported by The Guardian, the cause of death was not disclosed, but the university stated that police do not suspect foul play. On Thursday, the Miami school confirmed his death in a brief statement posted to the Florida International University Athletics account.
“We are saddened by the sudden passing of Luke Knox, a member of the FIU Football program,” the tweet read. “We send our thoughts and prayers to Luke’s family, friends and teammates during this difficult time.”
The late football player is survived by his parents, Rachel and David Knox, and his older brother Dawson Knox. Dawson Knox is the Buffalo Bills tight end.

Luke Knox was born on 19 September 1999 in Tennessee, United States.
He had been interested in sports since he was a child; naturally, his career began at a young age. He began playing football as a freshman at Ole Miss in 2018. Luke was a member of both the high school and college teams.
Throughout his sporting career, he won numerous matches and awards. Luke was a well-known American linebacker in the state. He was a football player for the FIU Panthers. However, he became a Redshirt Junior in 2021.
Reactions to Knox’s passing
It is no doubt that the sudden death of Luke has left the football world shaken. Coaches, football teams, as well as supporters, took to social media to pay tribute to the late Knox.
“Our hearts go out to Dawson and his family during this time,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said Thursday. “We’re right there with him and supporting him and his family. Just tragic news that I woke up to this morning.”
The Knox family is yet to comment on the loss of their son and brother.
