Over the weekend, reports spread online that Ye (fka Kanye West) in South Africa was finally happening.

Reports surface about Kanye West coming to South Africa

The American rapper and fashion mogul briefly returned to his X (formerly Twitter) account and posted a concert poster.

According to the poster, Kanye would perform at Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg on 13 December 2025.

The image described the show as his “only performance in South Africa” and urged fans to pre-register for tickets at Ticketpro.

However, confusion set in quickly. The X post, along with Kanye’s entire account, has since disappeared.

Even more puzzling, Ticketpro does not currently list the event or provide a pre-registration option for fans.

This has left many people wondering: was the announcement real, or another Ye-style publicity stunt?

Is he actually coming?

At this stage, there is no official confirmation that Kanye West is booked to perform in South Africa. While the Ellis Park poster looked professional, several red flags stand out:

  • The post disappeared along with his X account.
  • Ticketpro has no record of the show, even though the poster pointed fans there.
  • Kanye’s Instagram page remains active, but the only similar poster there promotes a concert in São Paulo, Brazil, on 29 November 2025. Unlike the South Africa poster, the Brazil event links to a real pre-registration page that fans can access.

This suggests that while Kanye is preparing international shows, there is no verified evidence yet of a South African date.

Kanye is currently promoting his new documentary, In Whose Name, and has been making headlines with overseas events.

Given his history of sudden announcements and equally sudden cancellations, fans are urged to be cautious until official promoters confirm the South African concert.

As one industry insider we spoke to explained:

“At this point, everything about Ye’s South Africa concert is speculation. Unless fans can see tickets listed through official outlets, there’s no guarantee the event is real.”

For now, South Africans should treat the Ellis Park poster as unverified.

While it is possible Kanye West will eventually bring a show here, there is still no concrete proof he has locked in a Johannesburg date.
