South African (SA) Idols continued its search for the next Pop sensation last night, with the second group of the Top 16 performing for votes that will earn them a spot in the coveted Top 10.

They were judged by the panel, Unathi Nkayi and Randall Abrahams were joined by The Soil’s Buhle Mda.

Group B provided explosive performances of some of today’s biggest hits.

This week’s show followed group A’s showcase last Sunday viewers now need to choose a Top 10 who will vie for the million rand prize.

Social media was abuzz about the show with multiple people giving their three favourite performances. Karabo, Kevin, Monique, and Ithana were liked by the judges and viewers alike.

Singer Donald tweeted his Top 3 performances agreeing with many other tweets.

How to vote for your favourite contestant

Choosing a Top 10 from this year’s Top 16 will be a tall task, the show is full of many dynamic singers.

The show is now in the hands of the viewers who can vote for their favourites, voting can take place in the following ways:

  • Sending as SMS with a contestant’s number to 37400 (votes on the SMS line cost R1,50 and free SMSes do not apply)
  • Making use of the MyDstv app
  • On the show’s website.

The other platforms are free. Voting closes on Tuesday 7 September. Each voting method allocated up to 100 votes per person.

Results of the votes will be given during next week’s live show where the Top 10 will perform for the first time. After the Top 10 is chosen the journey to crown a winner will be far riveting. The show will include choreography and themes to challenge participant’s singing abilities. It will be interesting to see if the Top 3 picked by people online will make it to the show’s finale.
