Social media blogger Musa Khawula, who is facing multiple criminal charges, including murder and attempted murder, made a dramatic return to social media on Thursday.
Musa Khawula is back and messier than ever
Despite being in police custody, Khawula has resumed posting online, asking followers for financial donations. His unexpected comeback has sparked controversy, with many questioning how he can maintain an online presence from jail.
In a message posted to his followers, Khawula accused a well-known businessman, whom he previously defamed, of paying off a police officer to keep him in custody.
He further claimed that an ANC politician was also working against him. These claims remain unverified, and law enforcement has not responded to the allegations.
Khawula’s legal troubles continue to mount.
He faces charges under the Cyber Crimes Act, including crimen injuria and hate speech.
He has also been linked to a 2021 attempted murder case in which he allegedly struck a man with his car and fled the scene. Additionally, Khawula is still fighting a 2022 murder charge, where he is accused of fatally stabbing his former partner, Wandile Wayne Khambule, in Cape Town.
Despite his legal troubles, Khawula has chosen to remain in custody, abandoning his bail application in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court. His next court appearance is set for 18 March 2025 in a separate attempted murder case.
Khawula’s plea for financial assistance has yielded results, with some of his supporters sending donations.
He posted his banking details, encouraging followers to help fund his legal expenses or personal needs while in custody.
Authorities have yet to confirm how Khawula has been able to access social media from within custody.
For now, Khawula remains behind bars, awaiting further court appearances while continuing to stir controversy from his cell.
