As global tourism enters its peak season, Emirates has unveilled new insights from its internal booking and search data showing Vietnam as the top summer destination for 2025.

Vietnam is a summer-favourite destination according to Emirates data

According to the airline, the Southeast Asian nation experienced a 61% increase in interest compared to last year, driven by a rise in bookings and travel searches across its network.

Emirates currently operates 25 weekly flights to Vietnam, connecting three major cities: Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang. Da Nang was added as a new route via Bangkok in June 2025, offering travellers access to central Vietnam’s coastal attractions and cultural landmarks.

The city is situated near three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, adding to its appeal as a tourism hub.

Vietnam’s rise in popularity, according to Emirates’ report, shows a broader trend towards travel experiences that are cultural, scenic, and more immersive. Tourists are showing greater interest in places that offer value, diverse cuisine, and natural beauty.

Emirates’ analysis also reveals that travellers are turning towards off-the-beaten-track locales that deliver both affordability and authenticity.

Beyond Vietnam, Emirates’ data shows that Mauritius, another favourite for South Africans, ranked second with a 41% surge in searches.

The airline runs two daily A380 flights to the island. Sri Lanka followed closely behind with a 32% increase, while Japan and France also made the top five, showing a 28% and 25% increase in travel interest, respectively.
