King Phalo Airport flights resume: Here’s what ACSA said
“Operations at King Phalo Airport have returned to normal. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience and understanding during this time,” ACSA stated.
Passengers were encouraged to check with airlines or the ACSA website for updated flight information.
On Tuesday, weather-related disruptions affected flights, leading to cancellations and delays.
Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) spokesperson Mphilo Dlamini explained that poor visibility compounded by limited instrument flight procedures caused the disruptions, particularly affecting flights using Runway 11.
“King Phalo Airport operates two precision approach runways: Runway 29 and Runway 11. Aircraft could not land on Runway 11 due to inclement weather conditions,” Dlamini said.
He also noted that the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) had expedited approvals for the necessary flight procedures to prevent future delays.
Flights are now operating as scheduled, with both the ACSA and ATNS committed to enhancing service delivery and safety for airspace users.
