On Tuesday TikTok was celebrating Khaby Lame for being the first standout TikTok creator in Europe and the second most followed content creator on the platform after he hit 100 million followers.
Who is Khaby Lame?
Khaby Lame is a 21-year-old content creator who was born in Senegal. He moved to Chivasso, Italy, when he was only a year old, with his family. Lame started TikTok during the most difficult time in the world — the time when the pandemic started. He had lost his job because of COVID-19.
According to TikTok, Lame’s desire to make the most out of his situation and turn it into an opportunity to achieve his dream of making people laugh motivated him to start a TikTok account and share his first comedy videos. Lame was also reported to be earning a six-figure salary from making videos on the platform.

The TikTok millionaire started gaining traction for his videos where he simplifies the content of other creators. What makes his video significantly funny is his constant mute expression.
In an interview with the New York Times on June 2021, Lame said that he is steadily making money but has not made enough to realise his dream of buying his mother a house. However, he said he was really hopeful about the future. At the time, Lame had only about 65 million followers on TikTok.
