Klein Vision, a company based in Slovakia, has officially introduced the production-ready version of the AirCar — the world’s first certified flying car set to be mass-produced. The announcement was made at the 2025 Living Legends of Aviation Gala in Beverly Hills, where the vehicle’s inventor, Stefan Klein, received a special engineering award for his contributions to personal air mobility.
What we know about the AirCar
The AirCar is designed to function both as a car on the road and a small aircraft in the air. What makes it unique is that it can switch between these two modes in less than two minutes.
This means you can drive it like a regular car, and when needed, transform it into a plane to take off and fly.
To achieve this, the AirCar is built using lightweight composite materials and includes a 280-horsepower engine. This is powerful enough to allow it to fly safely while still maintaining good performance on the road. The vehicle has already been tested extensively, with over 170 hours of flight time and more than 500 successful takeoffs and landings.
The transformation from car to aircraft is automatic. With the press of a button, the wings extend, and the tail unfolds. This is a major advancement in combining the features of a car and a plane into a single vehicle that is safe, legal, and efficient in both environments.

Stefan Klein, who has been working on flying car technology for over three decades, said:
“The AirCar fulfills a lifelong dream to bring the freedom of flight into the hands of everyday people.”
When will it launch and what’s the price?
Although Klein Vision has not officially confirmed a launch date, it is widely expected that the AirCar will go on sale in early 2026. The starting price is rumoured to be around $800,000 (over R15 million), but this has not yet been confirmed by the company.
AirCar co-founder Anton Zajac described the vehicle as a “fusion of certified aviation engineering and advanced automotive design.” He added that with the global air mobility industry projected to grow rapidly in the next decade, the AirCar is well-positioned to be a key player in the future of transport.
Well-known guests at the gala, including astronauts, pilots, and celebrities, witnessed the unveiling. Actor and aviation enthusiast John Travolta, along with Morgan Freeman, hosted the event.
Buzz Aldrin and Prince Harry were also in attendance.
In a documentary shown at the gala, the AirCar’s 35-year development journey was highlighted, showing how dreams of flying cars are now becoming real. Emmy Award-winning director Todd Douglas Miller said,
“From the cockpit of another aircraft, I watched the AirCar in flight. Stefan Klein and Klein Vision have turned the impossible into reality.”
Klein Vision has confirmed that the AirCar already holds a Certificate of Airworthiness, meaning it has passed all the safety and technical checks needed to be used in the air.
This certification is important because it proves the car can legally and safely fly in countries where air traffic regulations apply.
More details about the final design, features, and sales process are expected to be shared in the coming months as the company prepares for its commercial launch.
