The global Minecraft community is reeling in the loss of its biggest content contributor, Technoblade, a 23-year-old game wizard who sadly passed away from a terminal illness.

The Minecraft YouTuber’s 10.8 million subscribers were left in shambles when a new upload surfaced on the gamer’s channel on Friday, titled ‘so long nerds’. This six-minute entry, it turns out, was Technoblade’s last dying wish, a tribute and parting message to his loyal fanbase.

In the clip, Technoblade’s father reads a short message written by the 23-year-old hours before he died and reveals the Minecraft wizard’s final moments. Unbeknownst to fans who’ve followed the YouTuber for close to a decade, Technoblade was living with cancer, and this year, it had developed to stage four.

“This past year had a lot of rough spots for our son as he battled stage four cancer. But he didn’t complain, and kept using his famous strategic mind to try to beat what he knew were almost impossible odds. My son’s bravery on this path was a shining lesson to all of us who were privileged to walk it with him. Thank you for sharing his journey through it all, as he did the work he loved for his beloved fans,” the family’s statement read.
