Wizards of the Coast has confirmed a Monster Hunter: Secret Lair crossover for Magic: The Gathering, ending days of speculation triggered by a teaser banner on the Secret Lair website.
The drop forms part of the December Superdrop and includes four themed mini sets.
According to Polygon, the announcement follows a brief period in which the Secret Lair homepage quietly switched its banner text to “Hunter Rank required: ???,” a reference recognised immediately by Monster Hunter players.
Data miners then uncovered early references to a “Monster Hunter Superdrop,” indicating multiple bundles rather than a single release.
The Superdrop launches on 1 December 2025 and features four sets: The Hunt, The Hunters, The Monsters and The Monsters II.
Each will be available in English and Japanese, with standard foil and non foil variants.
The publisher confirmed that the bundles will also be offered in larger packages, including the “Master Rank Everything Bundle,” which contains all items in the Superdrop.
Select bundles will include a foil Sol Ring promotional card featuring Valstrax, illustrated with the monster venting dragon energy, matching the card’s mana generating effect.
As with other Secret Lair drops, all cards are reprints presented with new artwork and Monster Hunter themed flavour.
The Hunt includes instants, sorceries and an enchantment reskinned as Monster Hunter abilities and attacks.
The Hunters features mono coloured creatures aligned with each colour identity, while The Monsters and The Monsters II showcase larger legendary creatures such as Rathalos, Fatalis, Nergigante and Velkhana .
