Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls was officially unveiled at the EVO 2025 event, with developers Arc System Works confirming that a closed beta will run from 5 to 7 September 2025 exclusively on PlayStation 5.

What is Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls?

Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls is a fighting game featuring characters from Marvel Comics like Iron Man, Captain America, Storm, and Spider-Man. It’s designed to be easy enough for beginners to play, but still offers complex features for more experienced players.

The game allows players to form a team of four characters, but only two (a lead and an assist) are available at the start of each match.

Players unlock their full team by meeting special conditions during the fight—such as breaking through arena walls or dealing enough damage.

Key gameplay features

The game is a 2.5D tag team fighter, which means it looks 3D but players fight on a two-dimensional plane. You can tag in other characters mid-match, call for assist attacks, or chain special moves using an “Assemble Gauge.”

Unlike other fighting games, your whole team shares one health bar, called a Vital Gauge. If it runs out, your team loses. Players can also use a Skill Gauge to perform high-damage “Ultimate Skills”—cinematic finishing moves.

The beta version, the same one shown at EVO 2025, includes eight playable characters:

  • Iron Man
  • Captain America
  • Storm
  • Doctor Doom
  • Star-Lord
  • Ms. Marvel
  • Ghost Rider
  • Spider-Man

More characters are expected when the full game launches in 2026.

How to join the closed beta

To sign up for the closed beta, go to PlayStation’s official Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls page and register your interest.

If you’re already in the PlayStation beta program, you’re automatically signed up.

Beta testing will take place from 5 to 7 September 2025, and is only available on PS5. Selected players will receive codes before the test period begins.

When is the full release?

Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls is expected to launch in 2026 on PS5 and Windows PC.

It will also support cross-platform play, meaning players on both systems can battle each other online.
