The GTA mansion update, A Safehouse in the Hills, launches today, bringing Michael de Santa back into GTA Online alongside three new luxury properties and an expanded fleet of exclusive cars.

When the GTA mansion update goes live

Rockstar’s new content drop rolls out today, Wednesday 10 December 2025, from 02:00 PT (12:00 SAST), across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

The studio describes A Safehouse in the Hills as its most ambitious luxury real-estate expansion yet and the final major GTA Online update of 2025.

Three new mansions in Los Santos

At the centre of the update are three high-end mansions in some of Los Santos’ most expensive hillside neighbourhoods, including the wider Tongva Hills area.

Each property is a distinct layout rather than a reskin, aimed at different playstyles and locations.

Players can expect deeper interior customisation with trophy spaces for achievements, groom-ready salons, kennels and multi-bay garages designed for large car collections.

An AI assistant system is also built in to manage safehouse routines and boost production in linked businesses.

Michael de Santa finally joins GTA Online

A Safehouse in the Hills is the first time Michael de Santa appears as an active character in GTA Online, more than a decade after Grand Theft Auto V’s story mode.

New narrative missions revolve around Michael’s return, with a separate storyline that players can access even if they do not buy a mansion.

Amanda de Santa also makes her Online debut, creating a two-character arc that more directly links GTA V’s single-player story to the evolving Online universe.

New supercars and drip-feed vehicles

The update adds several new high-end vehicles built to match the mansion lifestyle. Early reveals include the Vapid FMJ Mark V and a luxury sedan inspired by classic BMW designs, with more cars set to arrive through staggered drip-feed releases over the rest of December.

Rockstar is positioning these models as status symbols for players who invest heavily in property, collections and role-play.

Why ‘A Safehouse in the Hills’ matters for GTA Online

Beyond the extra real estate and vehicles, the GTA mansion update signals a shift in how Rockstar is building GTA Online: more narrative crossovers with GTA V’s main cast, and deeper systems around upscale property ownership and NPC helpers such as the new AI assistant.

For long-time players, Michael’s appearance closes a long-running gap between story mode and Online; for new players, it offers a fresh entry point tied to prestige housing, story content and end-game collection goals.
