DA Chief Whip Natasha Mazzone has reportedly been granted compassionate leave to tend to the passing of her father, Giovanni.
Natasha Mazzone father has reportedly died – Here’s what we know
News of her father’s death was reported by Democratic Alliance MP Dean Macpherson who, in a tweet, sent his condolences to Mazzone.

At this time, no statements have from the Mazzone family or the DA. Moreover, it is not yet known what her father’s cause of death is.
Giovanni has, for the most part, kept his family away from the prodding media. All we know about him is the following:
- He was an Italian immigrant born in Pietrastomina, a town in the Avellino province;
- he was married to Valerie, a British woman born in London;
- together they have three children, Mazzone being the youngest; and
- he was a chef
A tough week for Mazzone
For the most part, Mazzone has kept a low profile on social media. The 41-year-old was thrust into a qualifications row after it was discovered that Western Cape Provincial Leader Bonginkosi Madikizela had lied about his BCommerce degree.
Soon after this was reported, suspicious activity was noted on Mazzone’s official Wikipedia page, where prior to Wednesday, her position had been listed as ‘Advocate’.
Two changes to this ‘position’ were made by two users, between 15:36 and 16:15, sending social media Sherlocks into a furore. Ex-DA member Brett Herron outrightly accused the party of ‘keyboard bashing’ their way to cleaning up Mazzone’s alleged mess.
When @Our_DA inner cabal decided to @MadikizelaBongz they didn’t intend for the to take out some of their own. Now there are qualifications questions being asked about @Natasha9Mazzone, Saldanha Bay Mayor Marius Koen, & whether MEC Simmers once claimed a degree on LinkedIn.

Neither the DA nor Mazzone has addressed these accusations.
