The ascension of Uncle Waffles has captured the attention of Drake and South Africa, it seems, is divided in opinion about this massive endorsement for a woman who, at once, was tagged a one-hit-wonder.

Drake shows love to Uncle Waffles

Aubrey Graham’s 107 million Instagram followers were introduced to South Africa’s latest shooting star when the Certified Lovery Boy posted Waffles on his story this past weekend.

The Amapiano DJ was in Tanzania and, naturally, her electric performance, which includes a set on the turntables and a dance routine, set the roof on fire.

Waffles posted a reel of the performance and Drake, one of Waffles’ Instagram followers, caught sight of it and reposted the video.

Of course, Waffles receiving a co-sign from the biggest artist in the world created buzz on social media. While this was an epic moment of affirmation in the DJ’s career, some, like the controversial mouth-runner Slik Talk, scoffed at the ‘big deal’ everyone made out of a repost.
