Two men believed to be bodyguards for alleged contract-killing kingpin Katiso “KT” Molefe were arrested outside the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday after police allegedly found high-calibre rifles and ammunition in their vehicle.

In a brief update circulated to media, police said:

“Two bodyguards aged 24 and 36 years of age have been arrested outside the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court after they were found to be carrying two semi-automatic AKM rifles and ammunition without valid permits.”

The statement adds that the men “are believed to have been escorting an accused person that was appearing today in court.”

Police further confirmed that the vehicle used to transport the men was seized after officers discovered that “the license disk did not correspond with the registration number plates.”

Media enquiries were directed to national spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe.

Who is Katiso ‘KT’ Molefe?

Molefe, 61, is currently out on R500,000 bail in a sprawling case linked to the murder of popular Pretoria DJ Oupa “DJ Sumbody” Sefoka and a string of other alleged contract killings.

His matter, along with that of three co-accused, was recently transferred from the Alexandra court to the Johannesburg High Court, where they face 35 charges, including murder, attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

According to reporting on the case, prosecutors allege that Molefe orchestrated hits targeting well-known DJs and other victims, with ballistic evidence said to connect the same high-calibre rifles to multiple killings across Gauteng.

All four accused are due to appear in the high court on 5 February 2026, when the full indictment will be handed over and a trial date set.

Police have not yet released the names of the two arrested men or detailed the exact charges they will face.

Their first court appearance is expected once case dockets have been processed and the firearms and ammunition have been forensically examined.
