Weather warnings and advisories to take note of on Wednesday, 14 August 2024
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued the following weather warnings and advisories for Wednesday, 14 August 2024:
- Orange Level 6 Warning:
- Damaging winds and waves pose a danger to navigation at sea between Cape Agulhas and Port Edward, continuing through to Thursday morning.
- Damaging interior winds may cause damage to settlements, temporary structures, and dangerous driving conditions along the coast between Plettenberg Bay and Port Alfred.
- Yellow Level 3 Warning:
- Damaging waves expected to disrupt small harbors and ports between Cape Agulhas and Saldanha Bay, spreading to Alexander Bay by the evening, continuing through Thursday morning.
- Yellow Level 2 Warning:
- Damaging winds expected to cause localised damage to settlements and difficult driving conditions over the eastern and central parts of the Eastern Cape, particularly along the coast.
- Fire Danger Warnings:
- Extremely high fire danger conditions over Vhembe, Mopani, and parts of Sekhukhune districts in Limpopo, as well as parts of the Eastern Cape interior.

- Coastal winds: Moderate to fresh southerly to southwesterly, strong to gale along the south coast until late afternoon.
- UVB sunburn index: Low.
- Western Half of the Eastern Cape:
- Cloudy in places with isolated showers along the coast and adjacent interior, otherwise partly cloudy and cold, cool in the north.
- Coastal winds: Strong to gale force southwesterly, moderating at night.
- Eastern Half of the Eastern Cape:
- Cloudy in places in the west in the morning, otherwise fine and cool.
- Coastal winds: Strong to gale force southwesterly.
- KwaZulu-Natal:
- Partly cloudy in the northeast, otherwise fine and warm.
- Coastal winds: Moderate north-westerly north of Richards Bay at first, otherwise fresh to strong southerly to southwesterly.
- UVB sunburn index: Extreme.
