On Wednesday, South Africa will face a diverse range of weather phenomena, from severe thunderstorms to high fire danger warnings, according to the South African Weather Service’s (SAWS) predictions.
Impact-based warnings
Yellow Level 2 Warnings were issued for severe thunderstorms expected to affect the central parts of the Free State and the north-western regions of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).
These thunderstorms are expected to bring strong damaging winds and significant amounts of small hail, leading to localised damage to informal houses and structures like carports.
Fire danger warnings
Extremely high fire danger conditions will be expected over the northern parts of the Northern Cape, the western areas of North-West and Free State provinces, as well as the Joe Gqabi District Municipality in the Eastern Cape.

Eastern Cape
In the western half of the province, morning fog patches in places over the interior will lift, turning the weather fine and warm but cloudy and cool along the coast.
In the eastern half, the morning fog will lift, and conditions will become cloudy and cool with isolated showers expected.
Free State
The province will be partly cloudy, windy, and warm to hot. Isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers are expected to develop.
Gauteng
The province will start cloudy but will later become partly cloudy and warm, with isolated showers and thundershowers expected. The UVB sunburn index will be high.
KwaZulu-Natal
Morning fog over the interior will clear, making way for a cloudy and warm day with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers.
Limpopo
Initial cloudiness in the Western Bushveld with isolated showers and thundershowers will give way to partly cloudy and warm conditions.
Mpumalanga
Morning fog along the escarpment will clear, leading to a partly cloudy and cool to warm day, with isolated showers and thundershowers in the late afternoon, especially in the northeast.
North West
Partly cloudy, windy, and warm to hot conditions will prevail, with isolated showers and thundershowers anticipated.
Northern Cape
The day will start with cloudy and foggy conditions along the coast, eventually turning fine and cool. However, the east will experience partly cloudy and warm to hot conditions with isolated showers and thundershowers.
Western Cape
Cloudy mornings with fog patches along the west coast will lead to partly cloudy and cool to warm conditions. Isolated showers will develop over the southern parts by the afternoon.
