According to the South African Weather Service (SAWS), a Yellow Level 1 warning for Damaging Winds is in effect for coastal areas between Cape St Francis and East London, extending to Cannon Rocks to Port Edward on Friday.

Extremely high fire danger conditions are forecasted for the interior of the Namakwa District, the eastern parts of the Northern Cape, the West Coast District, the Cape Winelands District, the Central Karoo District, and Kannaland Municipality in the Western Cape.

Advisories include extremely uncomfortable conditions in the Western Cape and Namakwa District of the Northern Cape, with extremely hot conditions in some areas of the Western Cape and Northern Cape.

Heatwave conditions are also expected in the eastern parts of the North-West Province from Saturday until Monday.

Eastern Cape

In the western half, the morning may start cloudy in places over the interior, but it will clear to fine and warm to hot conditions, though cooler along the coast. Coastal winds will be moderate to fresh north-easterly, strengthening to fresh to strong easterly by late morning.

In the east, the day will begin with cloudy conditions south of the escarpment, then turning fine and warm. The coast will be partly cloudy and cool. Coastal winds will be light and variable, becoming moderate to fresh easterly by late morning, and north-easterly by the evening.

Free State

The weather in the Free State will be fine and hot, but partly cloudy in the eastern areas during the morning where it will be warm.

Gauteng

The province will experience cloudy conditions in the morning, shifting to partly cloudy and warm weather, with hot temperatures in northern areas. The UVB sunburn index is predicted to be very high.

KwaZulu-Natal

Morning fog is expected over the interior. The day will be partly cloudy and warm with light morning rain on the north coast. Coastal winds will be moderate south-westerly, shifting to north-easterly from the south in the afternoon. The UVB sunburn index is high.

Limpopo

Limpopo will start with isolated morning showers and rain, becoming partly cloudy and cool to warm as the day progresses.

Mpumalanga

Morning showers and rain are expected in the north-east. The day will be partly cloudy and range from cool to warm temperatures.

North West

It will be partly cloudy and hot, though the east will experience warmer conditions.

Northern Cape

The Northern Cape will have fine weather with warm conditions, but temperatures will rise to hot or very hot in the western interior. Coastal areas will experience strong southerly to south-easterly winds.

Western Cape

The Western Cape is set for a fine day with warm to hot temperatures, becoming very hot over the interior, and extremely hot in places within the interior of the West Coast district and the Cape Winelands. Coastal winds will be strong easterly along the south coast and light to moderate southerly to south-easterly in other areas. The UVB sunburn index is extreme.
