Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected in Matzikama (Western Cape), northern and eastern Northern Cape, parts of North West, central and eastern Free State, Lowveld and Lephalale (Limpopo), Matatiele, Chris Hani, and Joe Qqabi (Eastern Cape).

Advisories

Heatwave conditions with high temperatures are expected over central North West and north-eastern Free State until Monday. Residents should seek shade and stay hydrated.

Eastern Cape

In the western half, fine and warm weather is expected inland but cloudy along the coast with morning rain. Winds will be fresh to strong southwesterly.

In the east, partly cloudy and warm conditions can be expected, turning cloudy south of the escarpment in the afternoon, with light rain possible in the evening east of Queenstown. Fresh to strong southwesterly winds along the coast.

Free State

Fine and hot, becoming partly cloudy in the east with isolated afternoon thundershowers.

Gauteng

Partly cloudy and warm, turning cloudy in the afternoon with scattered showers and thundershowers. The UVB sunburn index is expected to be very high.

KwaZulu-Natal

Morning fog over interior areas, then cloudy and cool but warm in the west. Isolated showers and thundershowers are anticipated in the afternoon. Moderate to fresh south-westerly winds along the coast. The UVB sunburn index is moderate.

Limpopo

Fine and hot, turning partly cloudy in the afternoon with isolated showers and thundershowers in the south and west by evening.

Mpumalanga

Fine and warm, becoming cloudy in the afternoon with scattered showers and thundershowers, isolated in the northeast.

North West

Partly cloudy and hot, with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers in the east.

Northern Cape

Partly cloudy over the southern interior in the morning, otherwise fine and cool to warm, but hot in the east. Winds along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly.

Western Cape

Partly cloudy and cool to warm with morning rain chances along the south coast. Becoming fine over the south-western parts and eastern interior in the afternoon. Winds along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly, but south-westerly along the south coast. The UVB sunburn index is extreme.
