The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued the following weather warnings and advisories for Saturday, 7 September 2024:

  • Fire Danger Warnings:
    • Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over:
      • South-western parts of KwaZulu-Natal
      • Most parts of the Free State
      • North West
      • North-eastern parts of the Northern Cape
      • Northern parts of the Eastern Cape
  • Advisories:
    • Cold to very cold conditions are expected over the interior of the Eastern Cape province, with snowfalls predicted over north-eastern high-lying areas from Sunday into Monday.

Cape Town

On Saturday, Cape Town is expected to have clear and sunny conditions with daytime temperatures around 19°C, cooling to 11°C overnight. Winds will be moderate, coming from the southeast at around 15 km/h. Rain is unlikely, and UV levels will be moderate to high.

Durban will experience partly cloudy conditions with patchy rain possible throughout the day. The temperature is expected to range between 16°C and 22°C, with a moderate breeze from the southwest at speeds up to 26 km/h. Humidity will be around 79%, and there is a 10% chance of rain.

Johannesburg

Johannesburg will experience sunny and mild conditions with a daytime high of 25°C. Winds will be gentle from the north-northwest at 19 km/h, and the humidity will remain low at 16%. Evening temperatures will drop to 19°C, and the sky will remain clear with a light breeze​.

  • Western half of the Eastern Cape: Partly cloudy and cool, but cloudy in places at first.
  • Eastern half of the Eastern Cape: Partly cloudy and cool with a chance of light rain at times in places along the coast and adjacent interior.
  • KwaZulu-Natal: Morning fog patches in places over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and rain along the coast and adjacent interior, except the extreme north coast. It will become fine in places along the north coast from late morning.
