The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued the following weather warnings and advisories for Friday, 16 August 2024:

  • Yellow Level 4 Warning:
    • Damaging waves leading to the disruption of beachfront activities are expected between Port Edward and Richards Bay in the morning.
  • Fire Danger Warnings:
    • Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the central and northern parts of the Northern Cape, as well as Dr Beyers Naude, Inxuba Yethemba, and Enoch Mgijima Municipalities in the Eastern Cape.
  • Advisories:
    • A heatwave with persistently high temperatures is expected over the Alfred Nzo District Municipality in the Eastern Cape, persisting until Sunday.
