What are the SASSA and SRD grant payment dates for August 2025?
The South African Social Security Agency will begin disbursing social grants for August 2025 on the following dates:
- Older Persons Grant: Tuesday, 5 August 2025
- Disability Grant: Wednesday, 6 August 2025
- Child Support Grant and all other grants: Thursday, 7 August 2025
Beneficiaries are reminded that the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, set at R350, will be paid out between 25 and 31 August 2025.
This grant, originally introduced as a temporary measure, has now been extended through March 2026 with a provisional budget of R33.6 billion allocated for the 2025/26 fiscal year.

1. Grant Amounts Following Recent Increases
Effective from May 2025, the following permanent grant amounts are in place:

- Child Support Grant: R560
These increases include a R90 adjustment applied from April 2025, with an additional R10 scheduled for October 2025, bringing the total increase to R100 for major grant categories by year-end.
2. Where and How to Collect Your Grant
Following the full transition from the SASSA Gold Card to the Postbank Black Card, beneficiaries must now use updated access channels.
Postbank Black Card holders can withdraw funds at:
- ATMs nationwide
- Participating retailers, including:
- Shoprite
- Usave
- Boxer
- Spar
- Pick n Pay
- Checkers
Important: Post Office branches will not assist Black Card users.
Beneficiaries who failed to switch to the Postbank Black Card before the end-of-June 2025 deadline may face challenges accessing their funds.
For those still in possession of the Gold Card, the upgrade is no longer optional and should be addressed at a Postbank branch to resume normal access.
