Initial reports indicate that the accident involved multiple vehicles, but details about the exact number of vehicles and the causes of the crash remain unclear.

eMalahleni multi-car pile-on updates

In a separate incident, a massive multi-car pile-up on the N12 between eMalahleni and Ogies in Mpumalanga has also caused significant disruptions.

The accident led to the closure of the highway at the N4 and N12 split, prompting authorities to redirect traffic to ensure the safety of motorists.

Mpumalanga Community Safety spokesperson Moeti Mmusi guided travellers affected by the road closure.

“Motorists who are travelling from Middelburg to Johannesburg are advised to proceed with N4 and use R555 until they reach Balmoral, where they can then rejoin N12,” Mmusi stated.

“Those driving from Delmas direction are advised to take the R555 in Ogies and join N4 in eMalahleni. Officials and emergency personnel are on the scene to redirect motorists.”

Details about the number of vehicles involved and the specific nature of the crashes or injuries have not yet been fully disclosed.

However, emergency personnel have been actively working to manage the scene, assist the injured, and restore normal traffic flow as soon as possible.
