The Qumbu shooting comes just over a week after the Lusikisiki mass shooting, which claimed the lives of 18 people in Ngobozana Village.

During a memorial service for the victims, Police Minister Senzo Mchunu confirmed the arrests of three suspects linked to the attack.

They are expected to appear in court on Monday, 7 October 2024.

“We are not too far from arresting the fourth person linked to the mass murders in Lusikisiki. The three that have been arrested will be appearing in court tomorrow. We will not leave any stone unturned until all those involved in this mass murder are arrested,” said Mchunu.
