Oscar Mbo looked to his talents to speak for him, and it may have worked.

Big Brother Mzansi (BBMzansi) was the talk of social media on Saturday, when Oscar Mbo, alongside a slew of talented jocks, brought the much-needed vibrations to the mansion.

Oscar Mbo wins hearts with fiery performance

The famed deep house music DJ restored the feeling at the mansion party that took place on Saturday. In the midst of what would turn out to be one of the most gruelling eviction challenges of this season, Mbo and his cohorts provided the much-needed escape, pumping tunes that had the likes of Sis Tamara and Thato dislodging their hips on the dance floor.

The positive sentiment towards Mbo comes months after he was the subject of slander on social media.

In January 2022, a Hammanskraal promoter blasted the Defenders of House star in a series of tweets, accusing him of running off with a R15 000 booking for a performance he never honoured.

This spawned a hail of backlash, where more people joined the conversation, claiming this was not Mao’s first case. The producer, however, has never addressed the allegations and, as things stands, he’s still not reactivated his Twitter account.

BBMzansi: No eviction this week, but here’s the twist

This week’s eviction came with a twist. No housemate was due for the chopping, as it would normally be the case. However, ‘big brother’ threw a spanner in the works with the “ultimate veto game power” challenge.

Libo enjoyed immunity from the gruelling test the other housemates had to endure for a spot in the mansion. With no time capped on the challenge, housemates had to hold a plate in one hand while balancing a ball on it. The players could not step outside of the designated mark and if the ball fell, it would place the housemate in the direct line of fire.

The winner of the challenge would enjoy immunity and — here’s the twist — get to select two housemates to save. At the time this article was published, Sis Tamara and Themba were the last remaining contestants.

Thato, who bowed out after clocking more than eight hours in the challenge, has garnered support on social media, for the sheer bravery and endurance she displayed. Notwithstanding the psychological strain the challenge placed on the contestants, Thato held out till the end while dealing with menstrual cramps.

Sure enough, the all-important fan vote will play a vital role in determining her fate should she be up for eviction.
