The City of Tshwane confirmed new fare tariffs for the A Re Yeng bus service, were effective from 1 July 2024.

In a recent statement, MMC for Roads and Transport Alderman Katlego Mathebe emphasised the City’s commitment to providing safe and cost-effective public transport options.
“The new fare structure reflects the City’s consideration to ensure that public transport remains safe and affordable to commuters,” Mathebe said.
The new fare structure includes significant reductions, especially for longer-distance travel.
Here are the A Re Yeng bus ticket price adjustments for the rest of 2024:
- Fare Band 1: For distances up to 3 km, the fare is now R11.50, down from R12.00.
- Fare Band 2: For distances between 3 and 8 km, the fare remains at R13.50.
- Fare Band 3: For distances between 8 and 14 km, the fare is now R17.85, up slightly from R17.00.
- Fare Band 4: For distances between 14 and 21 km, the fare is R22.05, an increase from R21.00.
- Fare Band 5: For distances between 21 and 29 km, the fare is R24.15, up from R23.00.
- Fare Band 6: For distances between 29 and 38 km, the fare is now R28.35, up from R27.00.
- Fare Band 7: For distances between 38 and 48 km, the fare is R30.00, an increase from R29.00.
- Fare Band 8: For distances between 48 and 59 km, the fare is reduced to R43.00 from R56.00.
- Fare Band 9: For distances between 59 and 71 km, the fare is reduced to R45.00 from R60.00.
On average, the fare reductions amount to approximately R2.00 per trip, benefiting those who travel both locally and over longer distances.
Commuters are reminded that travel is facilitated through the Connector card, which can be purchased or replaced at A Re Yeng stations, Tshwane Bus Services selling points, AFC mobile kiosks, and customer care centres for R65.00. This card is essential for accessing bus services.
