The MTV Video Music Awards (2022 VMAs) took take place on Sunday, 28 August 2022, at the Prudential Center in New Jersey, US.
Nominations were announced on Tuesday, 26 July 2022. Jack Harlow, Kendrick Lamar, and Lil Nas X all led this year’s show in nominations, while Harry Styles and Doja Cat follow closely in their nominations.
Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift, Drake, Billie Eilish, Drake, and the Weekend all received five nominations.
Madonna also made history with her 2022 MTV VMAs nomination. The 63-year-old became the only artist to be nominated in each of the VMAs’ five decades as she earned her 69th nomination for ‘Madame X.‘ She has already taken the crown as the most awarded artist in VMA history with 20 wins.
Neither the host nor the performance line-up has been announced yet, but they are going to have to try and top last year’s host, Doja Cat. We are also looking forward to seeing huge names grace the stage.
How to watch the 2022 MTV VMAs in South Africa
The event aired on Sunday, 28 August 2022, at 20:00 ET.
That may mean that we only get to watch the event a few hours later on Monday, 29 August 2022, at 02:00. While Multichoice has yet to announce when and where the event will be shown, in the past, the VMA’s have been broadcast on DStv’s MTV channel 323, along with BET channel 129.
