Singer Makhadzi has found herself defending her natural body against body-shamers after a photographer posted pictures of her performing. The photograph showed a natural discolouration between her inner thighs that occurs on many skin types but most commonly on darker skin tones.

In her humble nature, Makhadzi shared a response to the disturbing memes and pictures of her body that surfaced on the internet. The Limpopo singer apologised and pleaded that people should stop humiliating her because there is nothing she can do about the colour of her inner thighs.

“I humble myself politely to ask everyone to stop humiliating me… I know I am strong and all this will pass. Unfortunately I cannot change my innter part, I am like this and I am proud,” she said.

Additionally, Makhzi added that she might be strong, to handle some of the offensive social media body-shaming remarks, however, her family and friends are hurting to see her bullied on the internet.

She ended the post by saying she does have the time to block everyone, then reminded people of her talent by shamelessly plugging her new album African Queen.

“Yes I am strong but my family and friends they are not as strong as I am. Seeing them crying about edidted pictures really affect me and break me badly. I dont have time to block you all and I love you all. AFRICAN QUEEN album is out now,” she added.

Fans reactions to Makhadzi’s body shamers

Many women on Twitter were disappointed to see the internet bullying another woman for something as natural as hyperpigmentation. Some used this opportunity to educate people about the commonness of skin discolouration as a way of standing up for the Limpopo songstress.
