Khanya ‘The Voice’ Hadebe will be honoured at a public remembrance that will be held in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, this Friday.

What happened to Khanya Hadebe?

The 22-year-old was a passenger in a vehicle that was involved in a fatal accident, in Rustenburg, North West, in the wee hours of Monday 9 August.

Details around the incident are still unknown at this stage. However, from what we know, Hadaba and fellow musicians, Killer Kau, Mpura, Thando Tot and Thando HD, lost their lives on their way to an event where they were booked for a performance.

At this juncture, police have remained mum about their inquest into the car crash. Whether any culpability will fall on any of the persons involved in the crash remains to be confirmed.

Here are the remembrance details

Hadebe’s funeral details have yet to be finalised and communicated by his family. Earlier this week, a message did the rounds on social media, where it’s reported that The Voice’s family was kindly asking for financial assistance. Despite our best attempts, Swisher Post News was unable to verify this.

Alas, as the days tumble on since the fatal crash that shook the Amapiano community, preparations to escort the victims of the accident to their respective final resting place have continued.

Hadebe’s family and close friends have organised a remembrance that fans of the rising star can attend to pay their last respects.

“We would love for everyone who was illuminated by Khanya’s spirit to join us in paying respect by laying flowers and lighting candles in the area,” the message read.

Attendees of the vigil are asked to meet at 70 Jula Street in Braamfontein on Friday. The event is expected to run from 14:00 until 16:30.

“We would appreciate it if everyone could wear a touch of green and bring along flowers (purple and yellow if possible), messages, green balloons, candles or anything else you’d like to lay down in his honour,” the family pleaded.
