On Wednesday morning, calls about a shooting at Kensington Square were made to ALS Paramedics, who quickly responded to the emergency.

Upon arrival, paramedics were greeted by security personnel and officers from the South African Police Service (SAPS), who directed them to a specific store inside the mall.

There, they found a man, estimated to be in his 40s, suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg.

The injured man received immediate first aid from the ALS Paramedics at the scene.

After stabilising him, he was transported to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment. The quick response of the paramedics was crucial in ensuring the victim received the necessary care promptly.

Initial reports suggest that the shooting was linked to a robbery attempt at the mall, although details remain unclear. SAPS has taken over the scene and is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

No arrests have been made at this stage.

Following a brief closure, the mall has since reopened, with a heightened security presence.
