Gauteng’s loadshedding schedule has been updated with new blocks, affecting residents and businesses province-wide.
Gauteng new loadshedding blocks and schedules: Here’s what you must know
The power landscape in Gauteng has undergone a significant shift since Monday, 6 November 2023, with Eskom rolling out new loadshedding blocks and schedules.
This pivotal change impacts both Eskom and municipal customers directly managed by the utility, the national electricity supplier confirmed in a statement.
The reconfiguration of loadshedding responsibilities was the consequence of City Power assuming control of the grid from Eskom in many supply areas starting Monday.
The strategic move, Eskom explained, aims to streamline operations and enhance service delivery.
However, due to specific technical and network considerations, the following areas will continue under Eskom’s loadshedding protocol:
- Tshepisong
- Lufhereng (Roodepoort)
- Hoogland
- Maroeladal
- Morningside
- Riverclub
- Dainfern
- Bloubosrand
- Waterford Estate
- Riverbend
- Kyasands
- Bellairspark (Randburg)
- Halfway House
- Halfway Gardens
- Vorna Valley
- Willowway (Midrand)
- Marlboro Transit Camp (Alexandra)
Clients connected to City Power can find the new loadshedding schedule and blocks here.
City Power and Eskom are actively seeking technical resolutions to transition all remaining customers to City Power’s oversight.
City Power, equipped with the necessary processes and technical capacity, is set to manage the additional loadshedding demands efficiently.
The new schedules are part of a broader strategy to ensure the security of supply and adherence to national regulations and distribution licensing conditions.
“The two entities are committed to ensuring that the security of supply is not compromised, and the obligations as outlined in NRS 048-9:2019 are followed and complied with as per distribution licensing conditions,” the power utility noted.
