Emilia Clarke got candid while opening up about surviving two brain aneurysms and losing some part of her brain.

Here’s what we know about Emilia Clarke’s brain aneurysms

Emilia Clarke spoke about her life-threatening experiences in a recent interview with BBC’s Sunday Morning

In her interview, Emilia claims that she is in “the really small minority,” having survived two brain aneurysms.

A surprised Clarke reported that she is still able to think and speak coherently. While reporting that it was “excruciatingly painful”, she was grateful to have the show, Game of Thrones, to keep her facing another day.

In a personal article published in the New Yorker, she recalls the tragic time in which she discovered that she had suffered her first aneurysm.

The 35-year-old actress suffered her first brain aneurysm in 2011, and the second followed in 2013.

A few years have passed since then, and she only spoke openly about the health scares in 2019. She explains that while she was in the gym, she felt a “bad headache,” only to wake up in the hospital and discover what really occurred.

After being rushed to the hospital, Clarke was diagnosed with a subarachnoid haemorrhage and underwent emergency surgery immediately.

After having the surgery done, the actress revealed that the road to recovery was anything but smooth sailing. She suffered memory loss, and at one point, she could not even remember her own name.

Two years after her first near-death experience, the English actress was set to take the stage in a play on Broadway when she underwent another brain scan, which would reveal that the growth had grown double in size.

A second operation to treat the vessel would prove useless as it would fail and cause more bleeding. Her road to recovery for the second time was much harder than the first.

Despite the fact that she suffered both aneurysms so close together, Emilia would recover and get back to living a life she once knew. While accepting her current health condition, Clarke started her Same You charity, which supports all those with brain injuries.

After all the pain, suffering, medication and crying, Emilia can now say with full confidence that she is “living at one hundred percent.”
