EFF supporters began gathering early at Park King Dinuzulu, showing strong support for their leader, Julius Malema, as part of their campaign efforts ahead of the 29 May elections.
The march aimed to demonstrate the party’s readiness to govern South Africa, challenging the dominance of the ANC and IFP in the province.
The procession was spearheaded by the party’s secretary general, Marshall Dlamini, who delivered a keynote address at City Hall in the afternoon.
Dlamini emphasised the EFF’s commitment to responsible governance and criticized the current ruling party as directionless.
“We are demonstrating that we are ready to govern South Africa – a government that is going to be responsible and also liquidate the directionless ruling party,” he said.
Motorists were advised to avoid the affected areas to minimise delays and disruptions.
The large gathering and subsequent road closures significantly impacted traffic flow in the inner city.
