Thirteen Durban schoolchildren survived a horror crash on Tuesday morning after their school taxi lost control and collided with a wall and a tree.

ALS Paramedics responded to a serious accident involving a school taxi on the corner of Lighthouse Road and Moffat Road in the Bluff, south of Durban.

The chaotic scene greeted paramedics as the scholar transport vehicle had lost control and crashed into a wall and a tree.

Multiple children, aged between seven and 12, sustained various injuries.

Paramedics immediately called for additional ambulances and Advanced Life Support units to assist.

The injured children received on-site treatment before being transported to various hospitals across Durban for further medical care.

An ALS Paramedics spokesperson said:

“The children were stabilised at the scene and then taken to hospitals for further treatment.”

The events leading up to the crash remain unknown.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) was on the scene and has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
