Hollywood actress Olivia Wilde maintained a great level of composure after she was served with custody papers while on stage at CinemaCon.

Olivia Wilde thrust into custody battle

As reported by Deadline, the 38-year-old was on stage before an audience of approximately 4 100 of exhibitors and, as she was about to introduce the trailer of her directorial debut, Don’t Worry Darling, an unidentified person approached the stage from the front row and slid an envelope with the words “personal and confidential” stamped on it.

The actress, curious and bewildered at the same time, opened the envelope, read its contents and proceeded with her presentation. The audience, at the end of the trailer, gave resounding applause and the bizarre moment was almost forgotten.

However, according to sources close to the situation, the envelope contained custody papers issued by legal representatives of Wilde’s former fiance, Emmy-Award-winner Jason Sudeikis.

The ex-couple got engaged in 2013, and in their nine-year relationship, welcomed two children, Otis (8) and Daisy (5).

CinemaCon reacts to Wilde custody serving

The rare moment at CinemaCon left many heads scratching, including organisers of the event who are still at odd about how an unvetted person made it all the way to the stage during a presentation, unobstructed.

“We have never in the history of the convention had an incident where a delegate has approached the stage who was not authorized to be there. In light of this incident, we are reevaluating our security procedures to ensure the safety of all our attendees,” Managing Director Mitch Neuhauser noted in a statement to Deadline.

Neither Sudeikis nor Wilde had, at the time this article was published, not issued a formal statement on the reports. Here’s how social media reacted:
