Preliminary investigations revealed that a Toyota Hilux bakkie was heading towards Verulam when it came to a stop on the emergency lane.
The occupants of the vehicle had halted to report a hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of a pedestrian.
Tragically, before authorities could be contacted, a white Jin Bei minibus taxi carrying 44 children to Acacia Primary School in Trenance Park collided with the stationary bakkie from behind.

The force of the impact caused the overloaded minibus to veer into the oncoming lane, striking a pedestrian before eventually coming to a stop.
Amidst the chaos, a seven-year-old girl sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a medical facility prior to the arrival of first responders. The remaining injured children and the pedestrian were transported to the hospital by ambulance, and their conditions are currently being attended to by medical professionals.

At this stage, the identity of the deceased pedestrian remains unknown, and authorities are working diligently to gather the necessary information.
