Horror fans, prepare for another haunting chapter. Black Phone 2, the highly anticipated sequel to 2022’s box-office hit The Black Phone, is set to be released in cinemas in October 2025.
‘Black Phone 2’: What we know about the cast and plot
The new film picks up four years after the events of the first movie.
Now 17, Finn, played by Mason Thames, is still dealing with the emotional scars left by his escape from a child abductor known as The Grabber. Although Finn survived, the horror isn’t over.
The Grabber, once again played by Ethan Hawke, returns from beyond the grave to terrorise Finn and his younger sister, Gwen.
Gwen, portrayed by Madeleine McGraw, begins to have disturbing dreams. In these dreams, she hears calls from the mysterious black phone and sees visions of three boys being hunted at a winter camp called Alpine Lake.
These visions lead her and Finn to the camp during a snowstorm, where they uncover a shocking connection between The Grabber and their own family’s past.
The sequel deepens the original storyline by showing how the trauma still affects both siblings. As Gwen becomes the target of The Grabber’s revenge, she and Finn must confront their worst fears in a chilling showdown.
The film explores themes of family, survival, and supernatural vengeance.
Director Scott Derrickson returns to helm the sequel. He also co-wrote the script with C. Robert Cargill, based on characters created by Joe Hill. Derrickson and Cargill are producing the movie alongside horror producer Jason Blum, who is known for his work on M3GAN, Get Out, and the Halloween series.
The returning cast includes Jeremy Davies as Finn and Gwen’s troubled father, Terrence. New faces joining the cast are Demián Bichir as the camp supervisor, Arianna Rivas as his niece, and Miguel Mora as the brother of one of The Grabber’s former victims.
Maev Beaty and Graham Abbey also appear in supporting roles.
