Sony Pictures has unveiled the official 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple trailer, the direct sequel to 28 Years Later, which premiered earlier this year.
First trailer for ’28 Years Later: The Bone Temple’ drops
According to the studio, the follow-up was filmed back-to-back with the first movie and will be directed by Nia DaCosta, best known for Candyman. Writer
Alex Garland returns to continue the story he co-created with Danny Boyle in the original 28 Days Later (2002).
The sequel stars Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams, Erin Kellyman, and Chi Lewis-Parry, with Cillian Murphy serving as executive producer.
What is ‘The Bone Temple’ about?
The official description teases a story that shifts focus from the infected to the cruelty of survivors:
“In the world of The Bone Temple, the infected are no longer the greatest threat to survival – the inhumanity of the survivors can be stranger and more terrifying.”
In the film, Dr Kelson (Fiennes) enters into a mysterious and dangerous new relationship, while Spike (Williams) finds himself trapped in a nightmare alliance with Jimmy Crystal (O’Connell).
The trailer hints at betrayal, psychological terror, and the chilling mystery of the so-called “Bone Temple,” which may be more than just a place.
Producer credits go to Andrew Macdonald, Peter Rice, Bernard Bellew, Danny Boyle, and Alex Garland.
This film marks the second installment of a planned new trilogy.
The franchise began with 28 Days Later in 2002 and its sequel 28 Weeks Later in 2007, before being revived in 2025 with 28 Years Later.
The trailer highlights intense survival sequences reminiscent of Mad Max, with chaotic battles between humans, while keeping the post-apocalyptic horror atmosphere that made the series famous.
