Influencer and former girlfriend of television presenter Katlego MaboeMonique Muller, has been arrested for the illegal possession of a firearm, reportedly linked to gang activity in the Western Cape.

The 35-year-old was taken into custody last week in Ravensmead, a known hotspot for organised crime, and made her first appearance before the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on 21 October 2025.

According to Cape Argus, Muller was arrested alongside several other suspects following a police raid on a home allegedly belonging to a known gang hitman.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed her arrest, stating:

“The person mentioned in your enquiry faces a charge for the illegal possession of a firearm together with other suspects and appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on 21 October, where the case was remanded until October 30.”

Investigators have not yet disclosed whether the firearm was directly used in any criminal incidents .

The arrest marks a dramatic turn in Muller’s public image, which, just two years ago, was centred on her high-profile legal battles with Maboe.

In 2020, she became a prominent figure in South African entertainment news after a viral video showed Maboe admitting to infidelity.

Muller accused the presenter of emotional and physical abuse, which he denied. The fallout saw Maboe temporarily suspended from television and stripped of several brand deals.

In 2022, Muller revealed that her legal fight with Maboe had left her emotionally and financially drained. She said she had accumulated legal fees of more than R1 million while seeking justice, claiming that delays in the court system worked to Maboe’s advantage.

“They exhausted me financially and emotionally,” Muller told the publication, describing her frustration with what she viewed as loopholes that allow abusers to delay justice.

While she has built a modest online following as a lifestyle influencer, her association with Maboe and now with a criminal case involving gang activity has drawn widespread attention.

The Western Cape police’s anti-gang unit is leading the investigation into the case. Sources close to law enforcement said the firearm found at the scene was unlicensed and that ballistic testing would determine whether it was used in previous crimes.

Muller has not commented publicly since her arrest, but her legal representatives are expected to issue a statement ahead of her next court appearance.
