Global music legend Lauryn Hill in South Africa has fans buzzing after Grade Africa confirmed she will be part of a special pop-up event in Johannesburg.

The event takes place on Saturday, 20 September 2025, from 10:00 to 18:00 (SAST) at The Zone in Rosebank.

According to Grade Africa’s official announcement, the event will celebrate African culture and unity through limited-edition collaboration merchandise.

Fans will also get to see Hill alongside her long-time collaborator Wyclef Jean and the next generation of the Marley family, YG Marley and Zion Marley.

Music at the event will be provided by local DJs Doowap and Rarri. Organisers have urged fans to arrive early, as the products on sale are limited and expected to sell out quickly.

The pop-up event is a side gig leading up to Lauryn Hill’s major performance at the DStv Delicious International Food and Music Festival, which takes place at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Johannesburg over the Heritage Day weekend (20–21 September 2025).

On Sunday, 21 September 2025 (from 14:00 SAST onwards), Hill will headline the festival with a set celebrating the 25th anniversary of her iconic album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.

The album, which includes hits like Doo Wop (That Thing)Everything Is Everything, and Zion, was recently named the “Best Album of All Time” by Apple Music.

Hill will be joined on stage by Wyclef Jean, her fellow member of The Fugees, along with appearances by Zion Marley and YG Marley. South African stars such as Lira, Joyous Celebration, and Khaya Mthetwa are also part of the Sunday line-up, with jazz sensation Zoë Modiga and vocalist Mandisi Dyantyis adding to the mix.

Festival spokesperson Funeka Peppeta explained the excitement behind this year’s event:

“This year promises to be an unforgettable experience – from world-class music to bold culinary, art and fashion moments that reflect the rich diversity of our country and heritage.”

The festival will also feature the Channel O Dance Stage, where popular DJs will bring high-energy sets, and visitors can enjoy a variety of food, art, and fashion experiences.
