Dr Pert obituary: Her journey into medicine and aesthetics
Dr Pert was born in Hammanskraal and raised in Giyani. From a young age, she showed academic and athletic promise, even representing South Africa in basketball at the age of 16.
She studied medicine at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University, earning her medical degree after six years of study.
She completed her internship and community service in Limpopo and later worked in emergency medicine and obstetrics.
During this time, she performed numerous caesarean sections and delivered babies in public hospitals.
Her interest in the beauty side of medicine led her to pursue aesthetic training at the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine.
Despite financial struggles early in her career, she eventually opened her own clinic, where she specialised in advanced body-sculpting procedures.
Dr Pert started her clinic in Garsfontein, Pretoria, where she offered a range of services including liposuction, anti-aging treatments, cosmetic gynaecology, and vitamin drips.
She quickly became known for her work in helping clients improve their body confidence.
In her own words, she described starting with “just my hands,” and slowly built a business that helped thousands of patients.
Over time, her clinic expanded to offer more complex procedures such as breast augmentation and non-surgical gynaecological aesthetics.
Dr Pert’s sudden death has left a significant void in the medical and aesthetic communities.
She was seen as a trailblazer in the field of cosmetic procedures in South Africa and inspired many with her determination and innovative spirit.
