Weekend loadshedding schedule starting Friday, 5 January 2024
On Monday, 1 January 2023, Eskom kicked off the new year with the return of patterned outages, switching between Stage 2 during the day, and Stage 3 in the evenings.
Barring any unexpected changes necessitated by unplanned breakdowns at Megawatt Park’s ailing generation fleet, loadshedding should maintain this pattern.

Update on breakdowns and available capacity
The last state of the power system update was on Monday, 1 January 2024. At the time, Eskom reported more than 16 231MW of generation capacity lost to breakdowns, with an additional 8 451MW offline due to several units placed out of commission for planned maintenance.
