Eskom published the weekend loadshedding schedule starting on Friday, which forecasts suspended outages.

In a statement released on Sunday, Eskom confirmed that the suspension of loadshedding would be extended past 39 days due to “ongoing sustained improvements in generation performance.”

“Eskom will provide an update on Friday afternoon or promptly communicate should any significant changes occur,” the utility said

Update on breakdowns and available capacity

The last state of the power system update was on Sunday, 5 May 2024.

At the time, Eskom reported more than 11 036MW of unplanned breakdowns, with the average peak demand expected to average 25 853MW this weekend.
