Update on breakdowns and available capacity

On Friday, Eskom reported more than 16 546MW of generation capacity lost to breakdowns, with an additional 2 497MW offline due to several units placed out of commission for planned maintenance.

In the last 24 hours, Eskom’s generation fleet lost a unit at Arnot and Matla was lost to breakdowns, while delays in returning units to service at Grootvlei, and Hendrina power stations contributed “to the current capacity constraints.”
