Update on breakdowns and available capacity

On Thursday, Eskom reported more than 15 100MW of generation capacity lost to breakdowns, with an additional 5 252MW offline due to several units placed out of commission for planned maintenance.

In the last 24 hours, Eskom’s generation fleet lost a generation unit at Matimba Power Station, while returning two units at Tutuka contributed to the current capacity constraints.

“Eskom teams are working around the clock to return these generating units to service over the next few days,” the power utility wrote.
